How does this place work?

We’re set up cafe style – you order at the counter, find a table, and we run your food and drinks to you. Dinner isn’t coursed and we don’t take orders at the table, but this system allows for us to get food to you much faster and limit the time that you’re waiting to be seated or close your check. When you order, you have the option to either settle the bill or start a tab. If you start a tab, you are able to order additional food + drinks and close up at end of the bar instead of getting back in line. Since a lot of things about the space and menu are pretty different, we strongly encourage you to ask any questions that you might have.

What's the phone number?

We do not have a public phone number, instead we take reservations through the website, and answer inquiries through aptekapgh@gmail.com.

Do you take reservations?

We do take reservations, but only for parties of 6 or more. Although we are often busy, it’s normally easy to find a table for smaller parties. If you would like a reservation there’s a form under the ‘reservations’ tab on our website. We try our best to get back to requests within 24 hours.

When is the backyard garden open? Is it possible to make a reservation in the garden?

The backyard garden is open 5-10pm weather permitting. Unfortunately we do not take reservations for the garden, because the space is weather dependent we can’t guarantee a “backup table” inside if conditions outside aren’t suitable.

Do you have gluten free options?

Yes, we always have several items on the menu that are gluten free, and often have several more dishes that can be made GF with minor modifications. All of these items are marked GF on the menus at the restaurant.

What if I have an allergy/ dietary restriction?

For major allergies like nuts and gluten, we have marked our menus to help indicate safe options, but it is still advisable that you make us aware of your allergy so that we can avoid cross-contamination. We try our best to accommodate different allergies/ dietary restrictions- while ordering, it is necessary to inform us what those allergies/restrictions are. Although we list major ingredients in our dishes, components are complex and it is impossible for us to list every ingredient on the menu. If you have specific needs, feel free to email us in advance, and we can answer any questions about the menu.

Do you host private events / cater?

We have hosted private events and catered parties, although we are not able to do so very often because of the demanding schedule of the restaurant. Feel free to contact us regarding special events at aptekapgh@gmail.com.
