Léon et Séraphin
Matthieu Dumarcher worked as an oenologist in mass marketed wines for several years. At first hand Matthieu saw the excess and impacts of the use of chemical products, high yields and manipulated wines. That’s why in 2006, he decided to quit and create his own winery in the southern Rhone in a remote area close to La Baume de Transit.
Matthieu works in an artisanal way, farms organically and vinifies with minimum intervention to craft elegant, fresh and precise cuvees. Matthieu Dumarcher produces only around 15,000 bottles. Today, he is making two wines, a Cote du Rhone from 2 parcels of mature and very old vines (45 to 80 years old) planted on clay and iron and a lively red called Leon & Seraphin made primarly with Syrah and some Grenache.
